when you are having fun!
My goodness, how much has happened since the last post.
2015-2016 was a great year for the studio. In June of 2016 we had a graduation recital from the Basic Program for nine students: Josh E, Kristy L, Kathy L, Audrey G, Marwa H, Jack C, Dylan M, Chloe K, and Fei L. Congratulations, you all worked hard for three years to finish 40 books of music!
Summer brought many changes, and they were all good.
The biggest was that Katy Stephan has brought her talent, skill, and delightful personality to the Monday and Thursday classes. Welcome Katy!
And as part of "cutting back" for Ms. Queener, besides turning over two days of teaching to Katy, she said good-bye to the Kindergartners from Maya Lin School and the music program she taught there for 27 years. It was a bittersweet moment, but she still has her many piano students to keep her smiling and young.
The fall of 2016 started with a bang and the November recital was a complete success. As is traditional, students brought donations for the Alameda Food Bank and each student who brought canned goods received a chance to win one of Ms. Queener's homemade pies. Fifty-five items were collected, and Toby and Maya S. won the pumpkin pie. Bon Appetit!
With the holidays coming, there are lots of musical events around to enjoy as a family. One such is through the Holiday Home Tour which benefits the Alameda Family Service League. Several of our students have been invited to perform at the Elks Club during the tour. Thank you Cassie C., Elizabeth D., Dylan L., Maddy K., Taylan M., Graciella B., Charlize S., and Grace Z.
